Wild Horizons Elephant Encounter
About the Adventure
Experience a profound, walking-alongside encounter with a herd of rescued African elephants at the Wild Horizons Sanctuary, located within a 4,500-acre private wilderness concession just 10 kilometers from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Evolving in step with global conservation standards, this ethical wildlife experience has transitioned from elephant-back rides to respectful, educational walking encounters. Your 2.5-to-3-hour visit begins with an insightful presentation detailing each elephant's history—many orphaned during 1980s and 1990s culling operations—and the sanctuary's vital rehabilitation work. Afterward, enjoy a guided walk along elephant trails through the bush to observe their natural behaviors and bond up close. Your conservation-minded fees directly fund the lifelong care of these majestic animals and support the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust, making this a deeply meaningful and educational year-round activity for families and wildlife enthusiasts visiting Zimbabwe.
