Victoria Falls Rainforest Walk

Victoria Falls National Park (rainforest trail), Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Duration2–3 hours

About the Adventure

Experience the sheer power of Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, on this comprehensive guided walking tour. Your journey takes you through the lush, spray-fed rainforest of Victoria Falls National Park on the Zimbabwean side, which hosts 75% of the primary viewpoints. Led by an expert guide, you will traverse the 2-to-5-kilometer paved trail to explore 16 designated viewpoints, including the dramatic Devil's Cataract, Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls, and the panoramic vantage of the historic Victoria Falls Bridge. Along the way, discover the rich geology, local history, and diverse ecosystem of the rainforest, which is home to baboons, monkeys, warthogs, and vibrant birdlife. This 1.5-to-3-hour excursion is available year-round, offering a dramatic, mist-soaked adventure during the high-water season (February to May) and crystal-clear photographic opportunities during the drier months.

Best time: Year-round; early morning for soft light and rainbows. April–August brings the heaviest spray; August–January gives the clearest views of the rock face

Good to Know

  • Best light: Early morning, when sunrise tints the spray pink and gold and the crowds are thinnest.
  • Spray vs. views: In high water (Feb–May) the spray is spectacular but can obscure the view; in low water (Aug–Jan) the rock face is exposed and views are crisp.
  • What to wear: Good walking shoes (paths get slippery) and a waterproof cover for your camera/phone. Never cross the cliff-edge barriers.
  • Lunar rainbow: On full-moon nights the park opens for the rare "moonbow" — see the separate Lunar Rainbow Tour.

Good to Pair With

  • The foundation of almost every Victoria Falls itinerary; pair with a Helicopter Flight for the aerial view
  • Combine with a Zambezi Sunset Cruise to round out the day
  • Featured in our Signature Day, Essential 3-Day and Adrenaline Day packages
